My advise to anyone strugling with a firmware upgrade to a Sena 10C Pro using the Sena Bluteooth manager is to try to get an older version of the USB 2.0 ports. I got lots of suggestions, but no real help. Even the Sena support technicians werent any help. With my new machine it refused to work throwing up error messages that didnt really make sense "Not the recognised device", "Unable to get status " and so on. I used an old computer with old USB 2.0 ports and it worked first time perfectly.
I have both USB 2.0 and 3.0 and, despite numerous internet claims that the Sena Bluetooth manager will only work on USB 2.0, it seems that it is even more picky than that. The problem would seem to be my computer is too up to date. I have struggled for ages to get my 10C Pro firmware updated. If you do find another way or if this does not work for you let us know, please. I hope this helps, there is a NEED to format your microSD card and once done your USB 3 ports will be recognised by following instructions to press the phone button for at least seconds but do not power up the unit. You will be prompted to press the phone buttons a few times with an interactive icon until it gets to 100%. The system will recognise the device and run through the firmware update. Start the Sena Bluetooth Device Manager app.ĭO NOT power up the 10C Pro but instead, as per instructions press the phone button for at least 5 seconds and then on the app press Next. Turn the jog dial counter-clockwise to get to it and then press the phone button once.Ĭome out of it and switch the entire unit off.Ĭonnect the unit to the computer with the cables provided. I went the conventional way by switching on the unit and depressing the camera key for 8 seconds to get to the voice menu to format the SD card. In my case, I am using a MacBook Pro with USB3 ports. The camera must not be connected to the computer. The only difference was that the microSD card needs to be formatted in the unit. This is to add on to Jon's findings in case some may be on a Mac platform as myself.Įventually, I did manage to get it all sorted and should not have been an issue from the start if I had read the instructions from the site properly. No doubt I encountered issues like USB ports not being recognised etc.
I just bought a 10C Pro today and had to update the software.
Now connect the Sena 10c Pro to one of the USB ports in that computer and follow the process in the software instructions.Įverything finally worked after formatting the card and running the update on an OLDER computer with USB 2.0 ports. Install the Sena Update software to that computer. Once the SD Card is formatted, find a laptop/PC that has USB 2.0 ports. The way to do this is:ģ) Click camera button once (big button on the top) Then click again and hold for 8 seconds until you hear it say "Camera Setup"Ĥ) Rotate the jog wheel COUNTER-clockwise one click until it says "Format SD Card"ĥ) Click the phone button (button on the side) to initiate the format. I first formatted the SD card while it was inside the 10c Pro. It only had USB 3 ports and modern hardware. I was using a Samsung EVO 64GB class10/U3 SD card. When manually downloading and installing it, the update would fail at 28% and throw an error saying "Failed to update firmware. When downloading the Sena Utility software I noticed the program would not connect to the server to automatically download the newest firmware. I wanted to share this in case anyone else has this problem. I just spend 4 hours trying to update my new Sena 10c Pro and finally solved the issue.
